L-R Clan: Mountain Hood

What a treat! Our friends Susan and Scott invited our clan to their cabin at Mt. Hood for the weekend. Unfortunately, Tyler had to work, so the boys and I went up on Friday night for 24 hours of play time.

First, there was the hot tub. This was a major hit with Glen, who went in twice and had to be forcibly removed lest he become Glen soup from the heat.

A must-have addition to any slumber party (and this was quite the party, with 4 families plus a couple extra kids in attendance!) were non-stop movies, snacks, and staying up late. Here are most of the kids (I think 3 are missing) watching a movie on my bed. (I know what you're thinking - with four families there, I scored a bed! Yes.... and no. Three children had the same score... so there were four in the bed and the MumMum-one said "roll over, roll over." But no one rolled over, and no one fell out.....)

Far and away, the highlight of the weekend was the short drive to Mt. Hood (my kids call it Mountain Hood) for sledding.

Glen, of course, slid once down the hill, then proceeded to go exploring. His loyal friends (Sawyer and Austin) followed him most of the time, but Glen was very much into tromping through fresh snow in the woods, and less into sledding down the hill (smart kid - you have to climb up after you sled down!).

And, as is par for the course with my kids, there were plenty of snow-snacks.

Maddox had a great time sledding down the hill - he wanted to go over, and over, and over. And, I think he climbed up the hill on his own three whole times. The rest of the time, he caught a ride with someone... here he is after suckering Susan AND Sabrina into giving him a ride (it was a steep hill!).

The boys (except for Maddox, who kept sledding) made a huge, 5-layer snowman with Scott, then Glen decided to do more exploring. He crossed the path that we had walked up, and discovered that there was a "cliff" on the other side, with a stream down at the bottom! Naturally, he wanted to find a way down. So, I watched as he very carefully made his way down a shallow side, then explored the stream a bit. Then Scott went down with him to make sure he could get back up (Scott was smart, and had snow shoes).
