Who You Gonna Call?

There is definitely "something strange in the neighborhood."  Namely, my children.  We watched Ghostbusters (I and II) during movie night last month.  Ever since, there have been some incidents that have made me want to call the Ghostbusters.....

Most memorably, the boys have a new routine in which they emulate their '80s heros.  You may recall in the movie that the Ghostbusters cross the streams in their proton packs to bring down the big marshmallow man.  Well... my boys like to "cross the streams" of a different sort.  Yeah, probably doesn't take much imagination to figure out what sort.  Yes, you're right.  Gross.

Maddox is obsessed with Slimer, and will run around the house with his green blanket on his head, making ghost sounds ("OOOOooooooooOOOOOOOoooooo").  When he finds you, he says "blech" and then "You got slimed!"  Also gross.

Finally, Grandma gave both boys a rather loud toy gun for Easter.  It has a red light in it, and glows while it makes noise.  Naturally, this is a wonderful ghost hunting toy.  Thanks, Grandma.  The boys have hours of fun searching for the ghosts in our house to shoot.

Funny enough, they are pretty ambivalent as to whether ghosts are real or not.  I think they both kind of want them to be real, but are a bit scared by the prospect.  I'm shaving my personal ghost encounter stories (all of which have taken place in this house - maybe it's the graveyard by the driveway...) for when they are a bit older.
