Wrestling Champion!

And the Champion (at least of the first grade, 60lb weight class) is..... Glen L-R!

And, oh, how proud he is!  Glen has been in the wrestling camp (coached by the high school wrestling team) for the past couple weeks, and has been LOVING the gymnastics, half nelsons, and general rolling around on the mats.  He was absolutely determined that this year, he'd be in first place... and sure enough.  After wrestling three other similarly-sized kids, he was victorious.  The highlights?

This was a pretty typical look... Glen on top, wrestling his oponent to the ground.  Look at the concentration.

Glen won each of his matches by pinning his oponent.  There were several kids who won on points (my understanding is you either win by having the most points when time is up, or by being the first to pin the other guy.  Glen pinned every one.).

My personal favorite move was this one.  This is Gavin, the first kid Glen wrestled.  In his terms, "he's a mean kid, Mom."  Gavin was behind Glen, trying to get him down, and Glen reached back and literally threw Gavin over his head and onto the mat.  It was awesome.
