This weekend, we went on a fantastic 3.5 mile hike with the boys... there were two waterfalls, a trail skirting the edge of a cliff by the gorge with amazing views, and lots of wildflowers - we had a great time.
Here are the boys by a beautiful lookout over the gorge. The trail was literally cared out of the cliff - good thing there was a railing! There was also a need stone bench at the beginning of the lookout portion. Maddox wanted to "take a little rest" there, so we hung out together. We looked at the gorge, and he sighed "MumMum, this is so beautiful. It is a special place, isn't it." Yup, sure is. Then he said "I think this is OUR special place," and gave me a hug and kiss. Melt my heart!!

The trail was more interesting going up... we saw the top of the falls that you see here, a beautiful clear stream, and another set of falls in addition to the gorge view. But the waterfall on the trail that went down was truly spectacular. The boys, of course, wanted to explore - and got soaked from the spray.
And, no hike is complete unless you make your own trail!
