Mostly communication with Maddox exists like this.....
Maddox: MumMum?
Me: (sigh - I hear "MumMum?" at least 500 times a day, usually for no reason)
Maddox: MumMum?
Maddox: MumMum?
Me: Yes baby?
Maddox: Eh, Eh, Eh (high pitch voice - grabs me by the hand and leads me to the fridge)
Me: Are you hungry? (face it, life with kids is a bunch of guess work - in the case of a toddler, it's all about context. He took me to the fridge, therefore maybe he's hungry)
Maddox: ("Nods" his chin and makes sign for "more")
To say "yes," Maddox - instead of nodding his head or attempting to say a word - will open and shut his mouth - I think he "nods" his chin. If he REALLY means yes (as in, "Maddox, do you want some yogurt?"), he'll nod his chin and his head.
Other cute Maddox-isms (other than the ever-present "eh, eh, eh!") include:
SySil (for motorcycle - a major favorite)
Gaan Ga Gak (for moster truck - I know, it took me a while to figure out too)
Nennnn (for Glen)
Ble (for blue, his lovey)
Sorse (for horse)
Shuz (for shoes - one of his personal favorite items)
SooSuss (for Cerberus, but referring to any of the doggies)
Baaa (for bath, which he asks for almost every time he has a particularly messy diaper)
BobBob (for Uncle Paulie) - not to be confused with BopPa (for PaPa)
And, being me, I'm working with him on manners. So if prompted he will say Pleeee (for please) and gan gu (for thank you). But my all time favorite is Wu Woo (for love you)
